January 24th-30th

(1/24) Our poor nanny has pnemonia. Feel better soon, Kathy!   Thank goodness Nanan was available to watch the kiddos while Dad & I were at work.  We also got a quick visit from Oma & Opa as they were travelling through the area.  It was great to see them!

J

(1/25) Whew, what a busy day for me!  Dentist, errands, preschool and a friend over for C after.  The little guys didn't notice much, as they got to hang out with Nanan all day.  Jordan took a bazillion photos of the babies.  I'll have to go through them and will post any of the good ones!

J
(1/26) When the boys sleep well, I sleep poorly because I keep waking up to stare at them.  They didn't wake up 'til after 3 this morning and even then it was for a quick feeding and then they went right back down.  I had to be at work early today since C has his first hockey game this evening and am definitely feeling the lack of quality sleep.  Little boys got to hang out with Dad today and then came to C's game.  I zipped D in my jacket and Granddad held onto J while we watched.  C did a great job!

D
(1/27) Work day for Dad & me.  Granddad took on the task of watching all 3 boys today since Kathy is still sick.  He says they did great! Although, apparently D got him with the sprinkler.  Granddad forgot about the joys of little boys.  LOL

We finished out the day with some play time on the play mat and reading stories with C.

D
(1/28) Hockey practice for C.  I took him this week, so Granddad & Grandma got to watch the little boys.  Grandma says they have gotten huge since she saw them last. After hockey, we went to Nana's for "scrapbooking." I put that in quotes, because I no longer even pretend to scrapbook.  I just go to chat with Sarah & her mom. D & J stayed awake for around an hour and then passed out.  J slept most of the afternoon away and I had to wake him when it was time to go.  When we got home, J was full of beans, so we played for a while and then I put them to bed at normal time.

Denton
(1/29) Today is our day to hang out as a family.  We have hockey to watch (NHL Allstar game) and Dad is fetching Outback, which has become an annual tradition. I took the boys' pictures today.  Had to take D's after I got back from my class since he was still snoozing when I left.  They certainly are good sleepers!

J
(1/30) Work day for me and little boys day to hang out with their dad.

Happy Monday!

January 17th-23rd

1/21/12 - J on the left
(1/17) I worked from home today.  While I'm comfortable driving my Tucson in the snow, I'm not as comfy driving around the van without snow tires.  They are predicting a massive storm for tomorrow, on top of the 5" we already have.

The babies slept in late--I didn't get J up until after 11:30.  It seems they take turns sleeping in, so I predict D will be the later riser tomorrow.

J
J had it out for the monkey on his play mat today.  Both boys are now grabbing at things on their play mat and working them toward their mouths.

J
(1/18) Sure enough, it's 11am and D is still asleep.  He is so cute when he goes to sleep--he runs his hand over his face a few times 'til his thumb ends up in his mouth.  I can usually leave him unswaddled at night now, and only swaddle him when he's overly tired and that darn thumb is just not cooperating.  I'm still swaddling J at night, but he usually works his way out of it and goes right to sleep.

1/21/12 ~ J on the left
It is another snow day here.  We're closing in on 7" of snow, which is a ton for this area!  Today is Dad's birthday, and he had to go to work. He picked up 4 coworkers and got them safely there.  C picked out dinner and dessert for Dad's birthday: tuna helper & apple cinnamon muffins.  Uh, yum?  At least it gave us something to do when the babies were napping.

C & J today

(1/19) D sure isn't a morning baby.  J is all smiles when being changed and D is just a big ol' grump until he's fully awake.  And I didn't even get him up until 11!

D
We hunkered down in the basement for yet another snow day (we have over 9 inches now).  Dad was home today, so we watched movies and did a whole lot of nothin'.

D continues to work on rolling over, and can go from his back all the way to his stomach. If only that darn arm would get out of the way!  He's not quite there, but is very close!

This is D yelling at the monkey with the hiccups.

(1/20)  After being house-bound essentially since Saturday, it was great to go back to work! The little boys were with Kathy today and she said they had a great day.  She got some cute pictures today too ~ thanks, Kathy!

D
(1/21)  Dad made us a nice breakfast, which the babies slept through.  D was up at 9:30 and J slept until 10.  I took their weekly pictures and then C went off to hockey and the little boys went down for a nap. It should be a nice, relaxing Saturday!

J
(1/22) I had a lovely Sunday with the fam.  C and I went to the gym for Body Pump, after which I was seriously worried about my ability to lift the babies. I got home and did some reading while the babies slept, and then did some exciting things like housework and laundry.  We had our normal wine & movie night after the babies went down, but the movie was a snore, so we flipped over to Once Upon a Time.  Love that show!

D
(1/23) Back to work with me!  The little guys both woke up at 5:30am as I was getting ready to leave today - usually just one baby wakes and I leave a warmed bottle for Dad to feed to whichever one fusses. This morning we both ended up feeding babies before I finally got on the road.

It should be a good day.  Granddad is coming over this evening to watch the kids while the two of us go out to dinner to officially celebrate Dad's birthday.

Happy Monday!

Three Months

1/14/12 - J on the left
(1/10) Work day for both Dad & me. The boys wanted to be held a lot last night when I got home, which made making dinner interesting. In fact, I didn't get to eat 'til 9:30pm, which was after I'd put them to bed, and had gone up 10 minutes later to do it again as it apparently the first time didn't take. Goobers!

J
(1/11) Happy three months, boys!  Man, time is flying!

I have a house full of sickies today.  C has had this cough for a month, and has shared with everyone. Dad is staying home today from work, and the little boys are a little snuffly today.  Looks like we'll be putting the nebulizer to work.  So far, I haven't caught it. And I sure hope it stays that way!

1/14/12
(1/12) It's rough to be a baby.  The little boys were home with Dad today and Dad said that J slept until noon.  Mind you, they go to bed at 9pm.  But still, that's a whole lot of sleeping!  This, of course, meant they weren't real excited to sleep tonight... but they were happy boys all day for Dad.

Deedles
(1/13) It seemed like every time I would get one boy settled last night, the other would wake up and I'd have to move/disturb the already sleeping baby, and the process would start all over.  Eventually, I got them both to sleep at the same time, but the next thing I knew, my alarm was blaring.  It is definitely a three-cup day.  Yawn!

J
Kathy said D was really working on thumb-sucking today.  He was very intent on sucking it during play-time this evening too, so I went ahead and left his hands unswaddled when I put him bed. He was just about asleep when I left the room.  So, yay! I love that he can self-soothe.

D
(1/14) I as home with the little men today for the most part.  We're going to catch a Stealth (lacrosse) game this evening and Nanan will be babysitting the twins.  Nanan says she wants lots of cooing and smiling.  I don't think that will be a problem.

J
(1/15) Nanan stayed over night since she will be watching the twins again tonight when we go to off to a Silvertips (hockey) game. We also got a few inches of snow last night, so we didn't have to twist Nanan's arm too much to get her to stay.

Sleepy D working on that thumb
Today was lovely.  Dad made us both breakfast and lunch - he's getting quite fancy!  He even made coffee this morning, which is a shocker, since he doesn't drink it.

The little boys slept until 10:30am, which was after C and I headed out for a nice walk/play date in the snow with Sarah & co.  D had already gone back to sleep by the time we got home, and J was up entertaining everybody with his talking and gurgling.  He eventually settled in for a nap and I decided to take the opportunity to catch a few Zs myself.

The hockey game was great, but we lost in a shootout.  Now it's time for our Sunday night tradition of wine and movies after the little bits go to sleep.

J
(1/16) I have the day off today and will be spending it with the fam. I can't think of a better way to spend a snowy Monday!

Week Thirteen

1/7/12 (J left)
(1/3)  Yawn!  5am comes *early* especially when it follows double middle-of-the-night diaper fails / full changes.  I'm back to working my normal 10-hour days, so the little boys are home with Dad in the morning, and then are with nanny Kathy til I get home on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Sounds like they had a good day today.  D is a little bit more sensitive to the change and wanted to be held all day and to eat every 1.5 hrs, so he did a lot of riding around in the sling.

D
(1/4)  I got to go to preschool today with C (C started at a co-op preschool M-Th this week) and the little guys stay with Nanan while we were gone.  They had a nice day of play mat time, napping and just hanging out.  D seemed pretty congested in the morning so we spent some quality time with the nebulizer and he seemed better by evening.

(1/5) The boys were home with Dad all day. I was feeling seriously guilty for working all day, coming home to change, and then sneaking out for a class.  But we spent some quality time in front the mirror when I got home.  I put the boys on my lap and they talk to themselves in the mirror.  It's really cute!

1/7/12
(1/6) Work day for me and then Nanan joined us for dinner and baby-holding. C & I multi-tasked and played Bingo too.

(1/7)  I was home today with the little guys. Dad made us breakfast while I was out running, and then C helped me take this week's pictures before hockey.

1/7/12
(1/8)  I snuck out for a run, class, & coffee before the little boys got up. D is really working on rolling.  He gets on his side, then gets mad because he gets stuck.  He fusses for a minute then goes back to being happy & cooing.  I usually wait to assist until he's clearly DONE, but today he has played himself right into a nap twice.  Tory got them cute, fuzzy blankies (thanks, Tory!), so I used one of them to drape over a napping D.

J
I had no other plans for the rest of the day, so just enjoyed hanging out with the fam before we launch into another work week.

D
(1/9) Work day for me.  The boys were home with Dad today, and C had preschool. Sounds like everybody had a great day.

Brudders
I got home to two very smiley boys. Both boys seem to be ticklish, and I really got J giggling tonight.  Love those baby laughs and smiles!

All that laughing must've been exhausting, since J fell asleep before I even finished feeding D. Night-night baby J.

Week Twelve

D left; J right; 12/31/11
(12/27) I spent today attempting to organize all the baby stuff, toddler stuff, and all the stuff in between. I also packed up all the newborn stuff, as we're firmly in the land of 3 months.  Sniff.  It's going so fast!

D left; J right 12/31/11
The little men played on their play mat much of the day, and napped for the rest.  It was a very nice, low-key day.

Pouty D 12/31/11
(12/28) I caught a run before Dad left for work and then spent the day with the boys.  We cleaned a bit, napped a bit, and played a bit.  Just when we made the decision to go play at the park, and had everything and everyone packed in the car, it opened up and POURED.  So we came home.  Sigh.

D smiling in foreground 12/30
(12/29) I didn't see much of the little men today.  I went off on a girls' day with Grandma and left all the boys at home with Dad. I got home around 10pm, fed the kiddos, and they went off to dreamland.

D & C 12/30
(12/30)  It's tough being a baby.  I got J up at 10:45am, and he wasn't even really awake.  I just decided he should join us before lunch. We had a lazy day in since we're having schizophrenic weather and it can't decide what it wants to do. Tonight we're off to Jordan's for birthday dinner!  I cannot believe he is 5.  Happy Birthday, Jor!

J 12/31/11
(12/31) Today Grandma and Granddad got babysitting duty for the boys, and we stayed and hung out for dinner and games when I returned.

Great Granddad & J 12/31/11
We got home just in time to say hi to Dad before all the boys went to bed.  While the little guys weren't awake to watch the ball drop, they were awake at their normal time (~1ish) to eat.

J 12/31/11
(1/1)  Today we celebrated Christmas at Nanan's.  The boys smiled and cooed for her friends, and then spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping.  Party animals, those two.

Nanan & D 1/1/12
(1/2) Today is the last day of winter break. We were cleaning machines and are all set to tackle the first 'real' week back to work (with me working normal hours).
