February 21st-27th

J
D
(2/21) Work day for Dad & me.  Poor J was just miserable.  He was not his happy, smiley, talkative self at all.  He wasn't running a temp, but was still coughing and most definitely did not want to be put down.  Poor bug.  I hope he feels better soon!

I broke out the jumper yesterday.  D decided he would just lean over and gum the sides, but J figured it out.

(2/22) C is on mid-winter break this week, and I had cleaning duty at the preschool.  Sarah came over and watched all the boys for a little bit for me, and we had a nice lunch together after I got back.  Little boys are feeling much better today!  They are still coughing a little, but have normal temps and are back to being happy.

I packed up all the 3 month clothes today.  Sad. But not too sad since the 6 month clothing is just as cute!

J fell asleep in the jumper today.  Heehee!  I put the blanket in front to help fill up the seat and to make any face-plants have a soft landing.  J likes to gather it up and bury his face in it.

(2/23) Zzzz... J and I had a little quality time at 4am today.  He was laying in bed cooing and wouldn't go back to sleep, so we got up and went downstairs to use the nebulizer.  He went right to sleep on my chest afterwards.  Today was my early day at work so I could go to C's hockey game too.  I told my coworkers to just poke me if I fell asleep.

After we got home, Dad broke out the sweet potatoes (first food).  I'm in no hurry for them to eat solids, but Dad is excited... so why not.  J gobbled them down and D let them ooze back out of his mouth.  I don't think he's quite ready.

(2/24) Dad stayed home sick today with the little boys and C went to Nana's.  This cold will just not leave.  With the rush-rush-rush of yesterday, by the time I got home, I was totally ready to sit on the floor and play with babies!  C spent the night at Jordan's, so it was just the three of us since Dad felt well enough to head in to work after I got home.  As you can see, our Friday nights are pretty wild and crazy!

Jumpin' J!

(2/25) Weeee, busy day for us!  The twins and I went to hockey with C.  Luckily, we had an extra baby holder at practice since Kathy was there.  Everything went well until I tried to fold up the double stroller.  After fiddling with it for a few minutes, I gave up and called up Dawn for destructions. Thank goodness she answered, or I'd still be out there!  After practice, we headed to the store to buy stuff for dinner. Now I suppose I should actually cook it instead of arranging this post.

Laughing D!

(2/26) The little boys and I went to coffee with Tory today.  So good to see her looking so well!  She even rocked D to sleep!  J lasted about an hour and half before he started to yell, and then get upset.  We decided to pack up and head back after that.  After we got home, the boys took a nap with Dad "supervising" (read: also napping) and I headed out for a run in the sun.  I came home to still sleeping boys and had a lovely afternoon with the fam.  We watched Puss in Boots, which J "yelled" through. Silly boy!

Cooing fools!

(2/27) Zzz.. and once again J was an early bird.  Both boys demanded to eat at the same time last night, every time.  I fed them last at 5am and then removed myself from the room hoping that would help convince them to go back to sleep.  Nope. J was done with the sleeping business and he was ready to be up for the day.  Sorry, Dad.

Hope the rest of the day is better and that the boys go back to sleep!  Or at least take a nice, long nap this afternoon.

February 14th-20th

D in white; J in green

(2/14) Happy Valentines Day!  I was home alone with 3 younger men tonight. And one of them was hyped up on sugar.  Weee!

The little boys slept most of yesterday.  Apparently they were tired. They didn't really want to go down for the night after all that sleeping, but once they were down, they were down.

(2/15) The boys had their 4 month visit today. Here are their stats: D is 12lbs 13.1oz (11%); 25 3/8” (61%); HC 41 ¾ cm (47%) and J is 12lbs 12.1oz (10%); 25” (52%); HC 41 ¾ cm (47%). And for reference, C @ 4 mos: 16lbs 2.9oz (75%); 25 ¾” (74%); HC 44 cm (90%). Looks like they've gained length and brains these past 2 months. Here are their 2 month stats: J @ 2 mos: 9lbs 10.4 oz (10%), 23” (51%), Head 39cm (25%) & D @ 2 mos: 9lbs 6.1oz (9%), 22.5” (25%), Head 39cm (25%).

D didn’t fuss at all at his shots, just got a little pouty, and J cried and cried until they gave him the oral vaccine, which he thought was a treat and calmed him down instantly.

(2/16) Work day for me, and day with Dad for the little boys.  Dad and I left in the afternoon to go watch C play hockey, and the twins stayed with Nanan.  Not too long after we'd gotten home, I sat on the floor to play with the boys. J was very focused on standing and was grinning at me when Dad came up from behind and pretended to "eat the baby".  J *screamed* and instantly fell apart.  It was one of those times that you feel bad, but can't help but giggle at the expression on his face.  Poor little man!

(2/17)  Work day for both Dad & me today and the twins were with Kathy.  Dad had to separate the twins this morning because they were snuggled up, still asleep and having a slap fight.  And so it begins...

D did a lot of scooting around in a semi-circle when laying on his back.  I fear he'll be mobile in no time at this rate.

This video makes me laugh. Check out D's feet - that head is still pretty heavy, so he tries to counter-balance with his feet.

(2/18) Poor boys.  They are all stuffed up and coughing today.  We had a rough night of sleep last night.  Every time D tried to eat, he couldn't hardly breathe, so he just cried, and then J woke up. At 4 months, patience is not a strong suit... and trying to tell a hungry boy to wait for his brother wasn't happening, so he fussed and fussed.  Needless to say, I'm very glad we didn't have to be anywhere early today and were able to sleep in!

After I got the boys up and took their pictures, we bundled up and headed to the children's museum to meet Sarah, Kathy & kiddos. The little boys sacked out in their slings and pretty much slept for the entire museum trip.  Kathy offered to wear D around for a while, which totally saved my shoulders.  Thank you!  The 2 boys together get heavy after a while!

(2/19) D is mostly all better, but now it's J's turn. We've been using the nebulizer a ton and monitoring his temp, which spiked during the night.  I ran out and picked up some Baby Vick's, so now my baby smells like eucalyptus.

Hope he feels better soon!  He normally is so talkative and happy, but refuses to smile at me today.  Probably because I'm the one that sucked his nose out.  Mean mommy!

(2/20)  Much better night!  I think J is finally over the worst of it.  His temp was stable and he was able to eat without too much interference.  I have today off since it's President's Day, and Dad is off as well, so it's another family day for us.  Yippy!

For some reason, C likes to get right up in their faces to talk to them.  I always have to tell him to back up a little.  The babies don't really seem to mind though.  They adore him!

Four Months

D
J
(2/7) Yay, Kathy's back!  So glad she's feeling better!  She and the boys were at the house while Dad & I worked.

J took a long afternoon nap and didn't wake up until I had dinner on the table. Then he was up and 'yelling' - he has sure found his voice lately.  Yelling really is the right word too - he's not crying or unhappy, just loud!

(2/8) Crazy-busy day.  Play date with Lisa, Reiley, & Evan at the Children's Museum (so good to catch up!), preschool for C & me, and Nanan time for little boys, and then I ended up running D in to see the doctor.  He somehow got a hair or something so tightly wound around the knuckle of one toe and I couldn't tell if I'd managed to get it all out.  Anyway, he's fine, the toe's fine, and he weighs 12lbs 8.5oz!  Good sized boy!  It was so weird to just take one kid in the car. I kept feeling like I'd forgotten something or someone.

(2/9) Work day for me and the little guys were home with Dad today.  C is very 'in' to babies right now and kept trying to get Dad and I to take care of just two more.  And we're both very much good on babies.

(2/10) Work day for Dad & me, and the boys were with Kathy.  The boys are settling into a nice nap schedule.  They're taking two 3-4 hour naps and sleeping great at night.  I like it!

D still loves his thumb. He yells at it when he's super tired and it just will not go in his mouth.  He also rubs his head as he sucks his thumb.  This boy has the self-soothing thing down.  LOL

(2/11) Four months old.  Wow.  Seriously?  How did that happen so fast?!

Hockey day for C and the little boys went to visit Grandma & Granddad.  C had an extra long practice today so I took two bottles each.  They only ended up eating the bigger one and both took short naps. C & I stayed for lunch, and then we all went to the library.  We played there, got some books to bring home, and then went home.  We had a nice, quiet evening.  I took the boys' pictures while the big boy played on the iPod (of which he totally earned its usage today!).

In other news...look what J can do!

(2/12) Heehee!  I went out for a run dressed in bright yellow.  D decided he was *hungry* the minute I walked in, so I picked him up to feed him.  My shirt was so bright he just sat there blinking at me.

Today was Grandma's birthday so we went over for dinner.  I put the boys in their chairs and they watched for all of 3 minutes before they both passed out.  I would've gotten through the whole dinner without juggling babies, but their older brother was just a touch excited and bonked J's chair and woke him up.  Oh well!

(2/13) Happy pre-Valentine's Day!  Dad & I are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate since we're both working tomorrow.  Granddad is going to get sick of us (he's watching the kiddos tonight).
