April 24th-30th

Ttttthhhhbbbttt!
(4/24) D has sure been a bear to get back to sleep these last couple of days.  He goes down easy and then wakes at around midnight and is just inconsolable. Poor bug.

C is off on a field trip to the zoo today with Kathy and the preschool, so Nanan is watching the little boys.  I was at work extra early today, which means an early out and more time with the kiddos!  I'll take it!

(4/25)  Busy day today!  Soccer practice and preschool for C.  The twins came with to soccer and spent time in the stroller while C was practicing.  It was damp out right up to the end of soccer, and then it opened up and poured just as I was packing everything up.  Lovely.  I could sit in the van and still watch soccer, and might opt for that on really nasty days, but I know C loves having us right there.

Nanan brought over a wind chime to hang above the changing table.  D is totally fascinated by it!  Thanks, Nanan!

D is mid-sneeze.
(4/26) Thursdays are always such a rush, and I don't get to see much of my boys.  Dad said they had a pretty good day with him though.

Our bottle warmer gave up the ghost tonight.  It seems a bit silly to be buying one now that the boys are 6+ months, but it sure does make things easier for anyone not carting around their food!

I picked up some teething biscuits today, mainly for J, since he growls and yells at anyone eating around him (and not sharing!).

The rare 2-headed baby!
(4/27) Poor D.  He sure sounds barky and Kathy said he slept most of the day.  Both boys were totally done by 8pm, so I put everyone to bed.  I am seriously in need of more hands at bedtime though.  J wanted to hold my hand, I was using the other arm to hold & feed D and was having to pet the kitty with my foot.  You could argue that I didn't need to pet the kitty, but he doesn't take no for an answer.

I tried the teething biscuits with both boys tonight.  J did a great job holding it and getting it up to his mouth.  Surprisingly, D loved them too!  He isn't quite coordinated enough to hold it and get it up to his mouth, but if I held it, he could gum it and actually made pretty quick work of it.

(4/28) All the boys got to come with me to a marathon coffee training date with Tory!  We had a lovely time and the boys were very content all morning long.  Both boys got lots of snugs.  It was great to see the ol' running gang again!

Tory & J
The points of D's second bottom tooth are visible, but biting brother (ouch!) still has just the one.  So I know that D is a fruit fan, but I am trying different things with him and yesterday, it was carrots.  He would take a bite and gag.  Give him a spoonful of pears, and he would lean into the spoon.  Spoonful of carrots & gag.  Spoonful of pears & lean.  I mixed the two together and he ate them just fine.  I guess I will be that mom that hides veggies in their kids' food.

(4/29) Ran my first post-twins half marathon this morning with Sarah & Nana.  I saw someone pushing a double stroller and can't even imagine how tough that is.  I haven't been brave enough to take all of the kiddos out with me yet.  Better hurry... they're only gonna get heavier!

D plays with trains!  er, a tractor.

(4/30) Happy Monday!  Boy, it sure feels like the weekend flew. I had to keep telling myself that it was Monday tomorrow all day yesterday.

The little boys had a bit of a rough night.  Both of them kept waking at the same time, and at one point we gave J the pacifier to hopefully put himself back to sleep with, and then D would start fussing, so J would take it out of his mouth and hit D in the back with it.  Then D would swat back at him.  Another moment that would be really funny if it wasn't 3am.

April 17th-23rd

(4/17) Work day for Dad & me. The little boys had a good nap day. D slept for 4 or 5 hours for his afternoon nap. I'm jealous!

(4/18) Pediatrician visit today.  Here are their stats:
D is 27" (75%); 15lb 0.6oz (20%); HC: 44.5cm (75%)
J is 27" (75%); 14lb 13.4oz (10%); HC: 44cm (65%)

Once again, J thought the rota virus oral vaccine was awesome and didn't want to give up the squeeze bottle it came in.  Poor boys then got poked, fussed for a bit and then were happy to get back to the car where they were out within seconds of being buckled.  Nanan watched them while C & I were at preschool this afternoon and despite getting their shots, they were both in pretty good moods.

(4/19) Day with Dad today for the boys & work day for me. Poor guys have stuffy noses again.  I'm ready for the plague to get out and stay out!

D has a tooth!  Bottom one just poked through today!

(4/20)  Work day for both of us, and the little boys went to Sarah's.  Sarah said it was a snot-filled day, since Jamie has a runny nose too.  Yummay!

We stayed for dinner and watched the Mariners suck through the second inning.  Then we headed on home.  Both boys conked out while I was putting C to bed.  D was on the couch, and J fell asleep in the jumper.

(4/21) Wow, what a gorgeous day!  D slept until 11a before gracing us with his appearance.  I guess he was worn out from all that playing yesterday!

(4/22)  J was up bright and squirrelly today.  I got up early to go for a run, so was ready to get up anyway.  I fed him and gave him some bananas, but Dad said it took another bottle to get him to go back down again.

We're getting spoiled with such great weather around here!  The boys and I spent a lazy day at home today.  The boys sleep so very well during the day, I sure wish they'd transfer sleeping that big chunk to nighttime.  Last night was pretty rough.

Epic octopus battle continues.

D has the giggles.

(4/23) And I thought last night was rough sleep-wise... Oy.  D was busy buzzing his lips (and not sleeping), which was really funny at 2 or 3 or 4am. Funny only because I was so exhausted and here's this happy baby buzzing his lips.  Dear D, you're freaking adorable, but Mom has to rest at some point too.  xoxo

Six months

Photo credits to Lilja Photography for this week's photos!
As always, click to enlarge.  Photos taken 4/1/12.
(4/10) We have a tooth! J's has just barely popped through on the bottom. Dad doesn't believe me, but I can feel it and can see it.

(4/11) Happy six months, boys! I am loving their little personalities more and more every day. I love that they're such different little people.

J is very close to being able to sit unassisted this month.  He still will topple over, so I have to watch him, but he can pull himself from a reclined position to a sit easily.  He has tried lots of foods, and we've taken to giving him some bigger things to gum on (pepper slices, cucumbers, etc) so we can eat dinner without him insisting that we're not feeding him fast enough!  He has slept big chunks (like 8 hrs) a few times, but does so sparingly. I'm usually up at least twice with him, and twice with his brother.  They like to trade off as to who wakes us more. J loves the jumper and will bounce himself to sleep, and will sometimes keep jumping after he falls asleep.

D is on the move this month.  He is scooting along, and can turn himself completely around.  He isn't going very far yet, but I have no doubt he'll be zooming soon.  His eczema has mostly cleared up - his head looks great, but he still gets a patch on his belly and on his back that we have to slather up with lotion.  He is not so enthusiastic in the food department.  He would prefer just fruit - like, he won't take straight avocado, but will if there's some banana mixed in.  LOL!  No teeth for this boy (thank goodness!), because he's become a little vampire lately.  Cracks me up when he scoots himself in position to take a bite out of brother's leg!

The boys have their 6-month check up next week.  Can't wait to hear what their stats are! They're in 6 month clothing, and D is getting a bit long for some of it.  I'm betting D will be the taller boy and J the heavier.

As for today ~ C had a field trip and Sarah volunteered to take him.  I had nowhere I needed to go, and got to stay and hang with the twins. We had a quiet, restful day and I even *gasp* got to take a nap. It was awesome.

(4/12) Work day for me, and the little boys got to hang with their dad.  We all watched some playoff hockey and the boys jumped every time Dad yelled.   I told them to get used to it - it's a Reuther thing, after all!

(4/13) TGIF!  Work day for Dad & me, and Kathy said she was taking all the boys to the park.  Beautiful day for it!

(4/14) Busy day today!  It was simply gorgeous here in the PNW, so we packed up and headed to the park with some of C's preschool friends.  We picnicked and chatted with the mommies while C played.  After that, we went on an obligatory Sbux run, and since the little boys had passed out in the car, I took the opportunity to extend that nap and made a run to REI.  C, of course, had to play at the mall too (inside!!!), so we wandered in circles while he played.  When I got everyone home the little boys passed out again.  I made us dinner and we spent a quiet evening alternating between battling the octopus (toy) and napping.

(4/15) The boys were off to an early start today, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 6am, so I took the first shift and let Dad sleep. He later took over so I could take a mid-morning snooze.  We then decided it was a great day for Green Lake and Spuds!  Yum! The little boys slept the entire time their big brother played at the park.  We then came home and the boys bounced in their jumpers while C & I got the deck planters going.

(4/16) Dad has a dentist appointment, to which we are escorting him today.  Fun stuff!  And with that, we are off and running.

Happy Monday!

D fell asleep this way.  LOL
