October 23rd-29th

(10/23) Short week this week.  My "little" brother is getting married! I am working today and then will be off until Monday.  Kathy watched the kiddos and then we had a mad scramble to get dinner made, everyone fed, and the kids to bed.  Tuesdays are always such a blur.

(10/24) We went to storytime at the library today with Sarah & her boys.  My little boys are not quite ready for it, but they were happy to crawl around and get into other people's things.  J grabbed a cookie out of someone's diaper bag and had it in his mouth before I discovered what he was up to.  Oops.

Jordan made their name tags for them.  D was DENTE and J was JATN.

Then we had school for C / nap time for boys.  D & J chatted through nap and had just barely fallen asleep before I had to wake them up and take them to get C, and then to Granddad's for the rehearsal dinner.

Dinner was fun!  The boys crawled around and snacked while people chatted.  We were planning to eat right around the time the boys would normally go down, so I went ahead and put them down a little early.  They were most unhappy, but by the time I went to check on them again, they were moaning, and then by the next time, they were out.

(10/25) Jake and Amber's wedding was today. The ceremony was lovely and the boys were very well behaved. Their outfits were adorable!  Nanan picked out black turtlenecks, red bow-ties, red socks, and black jeans.  Darling!  I hope I can snag some pictures from other sources.  I neglected to take any, so I could just be there to enjoy.

(10/26) Today, C had an early dismissal from school, and an earlier start time.  So I piled us all in the car to take him to school, and J zonked out, but D stayed awake.  J kept right on sleeping when we got back, and I put D down after giving him a snack.  The boys slept until it was time to go get C.  We hussled back to meet the dry wallers, had lunch, and then the boys played while they worked.  They were good up until about 5pm, but that short nap hours and hours before just didn't hold them, so I put them down for another catnap.  Got them back up around 6pm, and let them play until about 7:30-8ish when they went down for the night.

Love my family!!  L to R: Granddad, D & me, Dad & J, C, Nanan, Jake,
Audrey, Amber, Craig, Shannon & Grandma

(10/27) Nanan came and watched the kids while I was at a run.  C had hockey this morning, so it was just the little boys and Nanan. I called around 11:30am, and they were just going down for a nap, and Sarah & I were en route to Starbucks to warm up from a very wet half.  We had to hurry through so I could get back and meet the dry waller again.  He finished mudding and will be back Monday to sand.  N.e.v.e.r..e.n.d.i.n.g.  Granddad came over to carve pumpkins this afternoon, and poor J gets really upset with Granddad for some reason.  Part of it was that he was tired because they were woken up when the dry waller worked in their room, and part of it is just the age, and OMG MOM IS GONNA LEAVE!!!  I ended up putting the babies down for another catnap and they went right out.  I woke them so we could run and get some dinner. We had teriyaki, and they decorated themselves in rice.  Yum.

(10/28) What a fun day!  C had his first race this morning, and we headed out before the littles even got up.  I did hear some "Dada"s over the monitor, but I figured since they were calling him, he could get them up. When we got back, the little boys were playing.  We hung around for a little while before I realized we had time to squeeze in Halloween with the Lights On at the children's museum.  Can't wait to take the little guys next year!  Dad had a writing event to go to, so we played at the museum for a few hours and got home in time for him to go.  The twins were down for a nap by this time, and continued to sleep until Dad left.  I got them up and brought them down for a snack and more playing.  They played up until 5, and then were ready for dinner, bath, and bed.

Both boys are randomly saying "Mom," and D will still have long arguments with me.  I say "Mama" or "Denton" and he exclaims "DADA!"  Very cute.

J is taking a step in between launching himself at us. He thinks walking practice is really flying practice.

(10/29) Back to work with me! The dry waller will come back today to finish sanding.  They're thinking they can paint on Thurs.  Here's hoping!

Don't these guys look like trouble?

October 16th-22nd

(10/16) I stopped nursing this week.  Definitely bittersweet.  J was more ready than D, and D keeps trying to turn around as I "read" them their stories before bed.  I say "read" because I haven't used a book in a long, long time and just recite Goodnight Moon & The Big Red Barn.  But really, we'd gotten down to just the before bed nursing and even that was super quick. They're sleeping through consistently and we both were just ready.

(10/17) Pediatrician visit today.  The boys are not as big as we expected.  D is fully into 18 month clothing, and I guess he just seems so tall.  In any case, here are their stats:
D 20lb 2oz (13%); 30” (52%); HC 46.5 (70%)
J 19lb 8 8oz (10%); 29.25” (40%), HC 47 (75%)

The boys were happy and fun at their appointment.  They got two vaccines and had their iron checked.  All is well.  Next appointment at 15 months.

We had the flooring and drywall guys out today and I picked out new floor and counter tops.  No idea when the actual work will begin, but I'm beyond ready to have my house back.  I dislike keeping the boys in "baby jail" (x-penned area around couch while the kitchen is torn up).

(10/18) Dad had the kids today and then left for drinks with the guys when I got home. He had worked with friends on the cars allll day long, and it was still at it when I got home. After he got back, I put the babies to bed and had Sarah over to gab during evening TV, and went to bed myself before the guys finished working.

(10/19) Surprise day off with the kids. Kathy's kiddos have the flu, so I stayed home. C had an early release right smack during prime napping hours, so I napped them early and then when they fell apart in the evening, I gave them another shorter nap. Whatever works, right?

D is up to 8 teeth now.  And, not to be outdone, J is drooling up a storm.

(10/20) Fun and busy day today! We started off with hockey for C. The twins had snack, played with their toys and played around the stroller while C was at practice. We picked up lunch on the way home, but the boys had it for dinner since they were zonked by the time we finally got home. After they woke up and had eaten, we took a field trip to Michael's for Halloween decor. C had a great time spider-webbing his room! All that running around made for a tired mom and I was so very ready for bedtime by the time it arrived!

(10/21) Family gathering to celebrate the twins' birthday! Nanan, Jake, Amber, Granddad, and Grandma met us at El Paraiso. The twins ate, and ate, and ate. They consumed a plate of rice and beans, a bunch of chips, some tortillas and then my burrito's innards. Let the farting begin! Oh darn, I have to work tomorrow and won't be here for those diapers. Jake and Amber got them cars to drive. I can't wait to have my kitchen/living room area put back together so they can ride them!

(10/22) Back to work with me. Hope the boys have a good day!

Happy Birthday!

(10/9) Work day for Dad & me, and the boys went to Kathy's.

(10/10)  Fun and busy day today!  We had a play date and lunch at Sarah's, and then took C to school. The boys decided their car nap was quite enough and went on nap strike.  I went in to lay them back down, and they were bouncing up and down in their cribs.  I brought them back down for a bit and tried again later with success.  I made cupcakes tonight in preparation for tomorrow!  Can't believe it's been a year.

(10/11) Happy Birthday, my sweet boys!  We had Chinese food followed by a cupcake smash.  Sarah brought them a shape sorter and some fun, textured balls.  The boys have been carrying them everywhere!

(10/12) Work day for Mom & Dad.  The boys had lots of sleep today at Kathy's and were full of beans this evening.  I didn't even try to put them down until after 8pm, which is late for them.  Lots of "t-t-t" and "sss" noises from J and "na-na-na" from D, along with other happy chatter.

(10/13) Wow, my whole house was still asleep until after 8:30a today! After everyone was up and dressed, we piled in the car to go get Bridger for hockey practice.  I got the Bridger & C dressed across from the set of twins on C's team and their dad asked if B & C were brothers. Nope, but I said I had twins in the hall! His girls said hi to my little boys and we had a chance to visit.  His girls crack me up (lots of ice angels during practice, etc) - preparation for what's to come, I'm sure.

Kathy's boys came over this evening so their parents could go to the game.  My house was full of activity, but it was fun, happy activity!

(10/14) C had swim lessons this morning and has been *begging* me to go to the museum.  So we ran to the museum and Dad watched the little guys.  Then Nanan came over to watch the boys this afternoon while us adults went to a wine tasting.  Nanan brought the twins a darling blanket with all sorts of toys tied to it, and she said they had great fun with it.

(10/15) Happy Monday!  The little boys are home with Dad today and I have work.

October 2nd-8th

(10/2) I'm on "vacation" this week.  In quotes, because dealing with home repairs is about as far from relaxing as it gets.  But we're making the best of it.

In twin news: D has a new tooth!  He's now at 7 and J is at 8.  Both boys (and me too, unfortunately) are very snotty.  Lovely.

D is VERY chatty lately - all forms of "daDADAdaDADADA" are happening. Both are really solid with standing and they're getting pretty good at maneuvering the walker too.

(10/3) The contractor was out this morning.  Hopefully we can get our house put back together here soon!

A look inside my night ~ How to give the twins a bath:

1. Wait for them to smear avocado and macaroni salad liberally over themselves.
2. Put D in the bathroom facing the toy bin.
3. Clean up J and take him in the bathroom and find D splashing in the toilet.
4. Pry D away from toilet and begin to undress him. Catch J's heels as he dives into bath.
5. Get both into bath. Take away the open shampoo bottle that J has just emptied into the tub.
6. Dry them off one at a time. Race D to a piece of mac salad that has fallen on the floor.
7. Get jammies on and collapse.

(10/4) Today, they sprayed for mold and kicked us out of our house for a few hours.  It is *stinky* in here!  I've opened all the windows in an effort to clear the air.  We dropped the babies with Kathy for a bit while C was in school and sneaked out to have a rare lunch together.  That was nice, although we quickly ran out of things to talk about.

(10/5) Oh, thank heavens, the fans and the dehumidifiers are gone!  I can actually hear myself think!  AND I have a stove!  Yay!  To celebrate, I made mac & cheese.

(10/6) Today, we went to the birthday party of one of C's friends from preschool.  Layla's (birthday girl!) little sister, Marley, is about 10 months and is taller than my boys.  They all had a great time exchanging toys, pointing at each other and chatting in their little baby voices.  My boys got passed around a bit until D got tired and just wanted Mom. He reached his breaking point after a few hours and I loaded them up in the car and went back in for C.  By the time I returned, they were both sacked out.

(10/7) Nanan and I went to the bridal shower for the twin's new auntie-to-be today.  Once we got back, the twins got to go shopping with us.  Dad said they slept for 3 hours while we were gone, so they were pretty content to hang in the stroller while we shopped. The boys were full of beans tonight and were happy and giggly.  So fun!

(10/8) "Vacation" is over and I am happily back at work. Rather, I'm happy to hand off dealing with the house to Dad for a day.
