February 19th-25th

(2/19) Ugh.  I have caught the plague now too.  D was doing fine this morning, so Dad shipped the kids off to Kathy's.  But she called saying he had a fever again, so I picked him up early from work.

Kathy said D hardly ate all day, but he must have saved up his appetite. Between the little boys, they ate: 2 apple sauces, 1/2 can of black beans, pieces of chicken breast, a quesadilla, leftover rice, an avocado, an orange, and some cereal. And D keeps saying, "MMM-MMM."

(2/20) Yay, fevers for D & me!  But it was my day to volunteer in C's class, so I drugged myself and went anyway.  Last week was such a disaster when I didn't go, and we were having such a good day, I didn't want it to end.

The little boys took a long nap for the entire time I was gone (Nanan was here to watch them).  As the afternoon wore on, it got worse for me and I couldn't get warm, even under two sweatshirts.  On the upside, D is doing much better this afternoon and may be almost at the end of this!

I was so bummed to miss book club tonight. I just kept feeling worse and worse, and figured I better cancel and go next time.  Sigh.

This is not a brotherly-hug.  This is a 'get-
out-of-my-way' hug.
(2/21)  Dad had the boys today.  D is finally better, and I am down to the cold & cough portion of this.  Wee.

Night-night time around here is pretty funny.  As soon as I mention that it might be "toofy time," J comes running and they both run around with their toothbrushes (they won't sit for this), and I change their diapers and get them ready for bed.  Then we head upstairs.  Any deviation from this routine is met with lots of yelling from J.

(2/22) Work day for Dad & me.  The boys went to Kathy's and are finally both fever free.  YAY!

J & C crawl-race around the island.
J eats books.  Literally... so we watch him.
(2/23)  It is rough to be a D.  He had the blanket all wound around his head this morning and was definitely not ready for prime time when we went in.  We came down, had breakfast, and then it was time for hockey.  C pitched a fit about going and escalated once we were there.  I had just gotten the twins back in the van and was ready to leave when he said he wanted to try again... so back down we went.  I fed the twins lunch and walked them around, pretty much ignoring C throughout practice.  J fell asleep and D was gruuuuumpy, until we got back into the van where he could finally fall asleep.  D slept from the end of hockey (12:20p) until 5p!  J, on the other hand, was wide awake after his hockey nap and played like a wild man until 3:30p and then went down until D woke up.  We then had dinner, bath, and bed.

J can now climb on the couch, so we have to find a new hiding spot for things like Mom's coffee, computer cords and TV remotes.  Yay.

They used to have a board book with three sound buttons at the bottom.  The sound bar has since broken off, and they both treat it as their phone.  I'll try to get video - but they say, "Hello! Yeah? Yeah? K."  Pretty cute.

(2/24) Dad took C to hockey, and the twins and I are hanging out this morning.  It's nice to have some quiet time with them, especially since their older brother has been so very *on* lately.

C decided to give himself a haircut this afternoon while the twins were down and I was out on a run.  So they're off trying to salvage that.  I have to say that I'm glad C doesn't save all the fun stuff for just me.

The little bits are dancing fools today.  I have the music cranked and we're having a mini dance party.

(2/25) Monday. Back to work for me and the boys are with their dad.

February 12th-18th

(2/12) Work day for Dad & me.  The twins went to Kathy's house.  J was yelling "BOO" all the way home tonight, and even ducks around the corner now to play peekaboo. The twins have had a growth spurt and can now pull things off the counter, that were out of reach just yesterday, I swear. Time for more baby-proofing!

J says, "Put chips here."
Mmm, chips & Cheerios.
(2/13) Oy.  What a day.  C and I are sure butting heads lately, and he pushed every button he could find.  Nanan unfortunately had car trouble today and couldn't make it to watch the twins in time for me to volunteer in his class--which was probably a good thing. I let him know, and he just lost it. I dropped him at school and warned his teacher that we were having a challenging day and took the twins home to "nap."  I took two very sleepy boys up to their cribs and D decided to talk through his nap instead.  J slept, but I knew the second I went in to get D, he would wake, and he did.  So I had crabby little boys, a tantrumming big boy, and a mama with zero patience.  I was counting down the minutes to bedtime today.

(2/14) Happy Valentine's Day!  I suspect yesterday's drama was related to today's sugar-filled holiday.  I got the kids stuffed hearts that giggle when you press them, and cups that have cupcakes and hearts floating in them. No sugar, and cups that fit their hands perfectly.  Dad had a much better day with C than I did yesterday.  Whew!  I picked up dinner for us all (yakisoba) and the twins wore much of it (of course).  D is looking flush tonight. I sure hoped he would skate through this illness unscathed. Sigh.

Mmm, chipage.
D is not excited about salsa.
(2/15) Poor D had a 103.2° fever last night.  Dangit!  I was set to take a half day at work, and my work decided to close early anyway.  Dad took C to school and then met me with the sacked out littles.  I drove them home and gave them a second lunch, since they were wide awake.  I kept D medicated throughout the day and kept his temp around 100° or below.  I put them down for a second nap after we picked up C, and I even managed to catnap too.   C and I were supposed to have a hockey date this evening, but due to D's illness, Granddad could not watch the twins.   Our awesome friends picked C up and took him to the game instead, so that I could stay home with the twins.  The boys had a great time stealing the cups from each other.  C got one last year, so I had a total of four to split between them.  D is feeling much better tonight; thank goodness!

Going for salsa...
Not allowed to eat a handful of salsa
(2/16) D's fever was down to 99° this morning, so I felt safe in heading out for a run. Nanan came to watch the boys so Dad could go to work.  I came home while the little guys were napping and even managed to get in a shower before they woke.  C was a bear tonight, and the littles were clingy... so it wasn't a relaxing evening, until bedtime anyway.

Lap is getting crowded...
Breakfast!
(2/17) Yay, no fever for D today!  Kiddos woke at 7am and I stalled for a half hour before dragging my butt out of bed.  I got the kids up and breakfasted and then met Nanan for a meal out and a movie - with NO kids!  It was lovely.  Came home about the time the boys were getting up from their nap and the hockey crew came over. They brought snackage and beer.  The little boys tried out some chips and salsa.  J really liked the salsa. D, not so much.

(2/18) I'm home today with the crew for President's Day.  We're planning a lunch date out and not a whole lot else.  I'm hopeful that we're done with illness for a little while, and that everybody back at the office has recovered so we can stop passing it to each other!

Sixteen Months

(2/5) Poor monkeys are sick-sick-sick.  I took today off, because yesterday I came home to a cuddly J, who didn't leave the couch all day, and a feverish C.  Fortunately, C was feeling well enough to go to school today, and J had a bit of a temp, but not a horribly high one.  We finally saw the sun peak out this morning, so I bundled everyone up and we went *outside.*  J fell asleep in the stroller as I walked them around the park while C played football basketball (yes, he tried to play hoops with his football).  I took him to school and brought the boys home to lunch and nap. They slept soundly until it was time to go pick up C. J's temp started to creep back up this evening... so we had an early dinner and went to bed. This crud is the worst.

(2/6) Home again today.  J's temp held steady at 99° in the morning.  We met Sarah & co at the park to get some fresh air again today.  I think it helped all of us!  Though, that outing was apparently exhausting for the boys and they slept from the time we left the park all the way until it was time to pick C up from school later in the afternoon.  They didn't even get lunch!  I ended up feeding them bites of C's discarded lunch on the way back from picking him up, and getting dinner started as soon as we got home.  J was very tired and started laying on the floor, so I took them up a little early.

(2/7) Dad had the kiddos today.  Poor C spiked a temp and stayed home from school today, so it was a bum-around-in-your-jammies kind of day.  I worked and took a class after, so wasn't home until late.. and by then the kids were about ready to go to bed.

(2/8)  Work day for Dad and me.  The kids were all feeling well enough to go to Kathy's and to school.  When I went to pick them up, C was looking a little pale.  Unfortunately, he spiked another fever this evening.  Ugh!  J was really tired tonight too.  I'm glad D has not gotten this - I sure hope he avoids it!

(2/9)  Ugh.  And now they're coughing.  Poor monkeys.  We kept C home from hockey today, and may have to do that again tomorrow since his temp climbed over 100° again tonight.  J's was 99° a couple of times and he had some ibuprofen to keep it down.  He's still eating and is back to his non-cuddly self until he starts to get hot, so we're doing okay there.  We were supposed to go to Grandma & Granddad's today, but didn't want to share our flu.  Sigh.  They brought us cupcakes though.. awesome!

(2/10) A truly lazy Sunday.  C was still pale and achy this morning, so we kept him home from the game. The twins didn't get the memo about sleeping in this morning, and were awake and chatty before 8am.  We had a nice, lazy morning and got to hang out in our jammies.  J's temp was normal this morning and he had a bit of a runny nose, but thankfully he wasn't coughing.  I hope they kick this virus soon.

(2/11) Sixteen months today!  Getting old!  We were laughing at the park the other day saying that we were just counting steps and now they're running.  Unbelievable.

I'm at work today and the kids are with their dad.  I hope they have a great day!

January 29th-February 4th

(1/29)  Work day for Dad & me.  After I got the kids home, I made them dinner.  J promptly threw everything on the floor, and got himself ejected from dinner.  He threw the biggest tantrum, complete with falling on the floor and screaming. Yay toddlers! He got to come back to the table after a bit, and didn't throw any more of his food.

We looked back at videos of C from around this age and laughed at the mini mes we have today.  This is C in 2008, around 12 mos.

(1/30) I volunteered in C's classroom today, and Nanan came to watch the kiddos. She joined us for a very messy dinner of meatballs and mashed potatoes, which the boys wore more than ate.  Definitely bath night! Having an extra pair of hands allowed me to cook dinner, get laundry done, and get the boys bathed in relatively short order.

Dangit, Amazon!  I have been looking for a 12-month picture frame for the twins, but the one that I got for C seemed to be discontinued or really expensive, and Amazon helpfully sent me a notice of when it was on sale.  How could I not?  Now I have a project ahead of me!  I'm sure I have the pictures, but finding ones small enough to fit will be the issue.

D in front of the crib we hoped would sleep
both twins when we camp this year. Yeah, not so much.
(1/31) Dad had the kiddos today while I was at work.  I came home to dinner and a nice evening with the men. The big boys watched hockey, and I pretended to eat all the food that the little boys brought me.  I had to put the carrot up after D gagged himself on it.  Ew.

(2/1) Work day for Dad & me, and Kathy had the boys.  I made breakfast for dinner and the boys got some spoon practice.  J is really quite good at it, but couldn't resist after I refilled the applesauce cup with yogurt and went hands-in.  D just threw the spoon on the ground and dug in.  That's my boy!

(2/2) Hockey practice today was moved back until smack in the middle of nap-time.  Sigh.  I packed the littles a lunch and hoped they would stay awake on the drive over.  D  fell asleep, but J stayed awake.  We got C on the ice and then had some lunch and I walked them around.  J fell asleep about mid-way through and D got antsy, so I let him out to climb stairs for a bit.  He thinks that is a hi-larious game!  Got the boys home and let them play for a few hours and then they started to look tired so I took them up.  J talked for about 40 minutes, and just when I was ready to give up, all was quiet.  They slept for a few hours and were rudely woken up when the biggun had a temper tantrum. Oh well, it was getting on close to dinner time anyway.  Nanan is coming to watch them this evening so C can go play a mini-game during the Totem's intermission.  Cool!

Jensen now says "BARK!" really loudly, and D says "dog."  D started to fuss this afternoon, so J went over and patted his mouth, like he wanted him to shush.   D, the stinker, figured out how to open the drawer beneath the oven yesterday and happily pulled out skillets and metal pan lids to crash loudly on the floor.  I have bungeed up the drawer. We'll see if it holds.

(2/3) It's a hockey kind of weekend.  C has yet another game today.  Dad took him to this one, and I got to bum around with the babies and go through pictures from last night.  I plan to visit Granddad later today while the babes are napping and beyond that, I don't have much planned.  Yay for lazy Sundays!

(2/4) Monday again... oh boy, oh boy.  Dad has the boys and I am at work.

C & J have fevers, so it will be a stay-home kind of day.  I hope they feel better soon.
