March 19th-25th

(3/19) Dear J, it is not light at 4am and our day does not start then.  Nor does it start at 5am when Mom's alarm goes off.  It does for Mom, not you.  Stay asleep!  After a bazillion cups of coffee, I made it through work to Kathy's to pick the kids up.  She has nick-named our boys Trouble (D) & Double Trouble (J).  They are into everything these days!

I discovered the secret of stretching the bag of tortellini so we all get some, and that is to add an entire bag of stir-fry vegetables to it! Yum!

(3/20) I had a productive morning and got the kitchen cleaned and diapers in the wash, so I called Sarah and asked if we could come invade.  She said we could, so we make a quick run to Starbucks and headed over to play for a bit.  We had to leave after only a short time, so we could go home and get lunch for C before school. Nanan came to watch the littles so I could volunteer in C's classroom.  They napped while we were at school, and when I went up to get them, J started saying "Nanan!" when he heard her voice.  They both were saying it by the time she went home, and D even blew her kisses.

(3/21) The boys were with their dad today while I worked. Dad and C took advantage of the sunshine after work and headed out for some street hockey practice.  The littles and I had some fun before bedtime, and they were in bed before the big boys returned.  Thursdays go way too fast.

(3/22) Surprise snow storm today - there was a good 4" this morning!  The little boys got to go out in it for a bit, but I don't have snow suits in their size now and their shoes are those flimsy, leather ones. C didn't have school today since conferences are next week.  Dad took them to Kathy's around noon and I picked them up after work. There was still enough snow that C went out to play in it again, and I finally had to call him in after his dinner had long since cooled.

(3/23) Yay, it's the weekend!  We had swim this morning for C, and nothing else all day.  The best!  There is a set of twins in the class next to C's and their mom was clapping for them, so my twins clapped too.  LOL!

J spiked a bit of a fever today and has been pretty cuddly, but improved after a nap.  He & C both have runny noses now.  Bleh.  He has been running around with a towel on his head that he stole from the kitchen tonight and making me laugh.  Such a ham.

(3/24) The little boys had a lazy day today.  I made them pancakes this morning and we played until their dad got home from grocery shopping. C and I headed for the zoo, and the little boys stayed behind with Dad for lunch and a nap.  We got home about the time they were waking up and had a pleasant afternoon/evening with them.  They've been dancing fools this evening.  Anything musical sets them off.  So cute!

(3/25) And Monday again.  Dad has the boys today and will be taking the car in to get it wired to haul the camper later this month. I work, and am already looking forward to going home to them.

March 12th-18th

(3/12) Busy Tuesday.  Dad & I worked, and Kathy had the kiddos. By the time I get everyone home and fed, it's bedtime.  Sounds like everyone had a great day though, and that always makes me happy!

The boys--by themselves--whacked a bag of tortellini tonight.  It says there's 5 servings.  I fear our food budget when they are older!

(3/13) I had the day off today, and declared I wasn't going *anywhere.*  Well, other than to the gym that morning and running C home from school.  I got to sleep, had some time alone, and had a great day with the kids.  Just what we all needed!

D is extra clumsy lately.  He has scraped his head, given himself a black eye, bloodied his nose and lip, AND scraped his ear all within days.  I don't know if he's having a growth spurt or what, but the balance is not there lately.. especially when he's tired.  Poor bug.

(3/14) Dad had the kids today while I worked.  He said they had a good day and I came home to quite the feast.  He made stuffed peppers and artichokes, and I think he actually managed to fill up the twins since they didn't pester me for my dinner as I ate.  That rarely happens!

(3/15) Work day for Dad & me.  Dad had the kids until school time and then dropped the twins at Kathy's.  They all got to go to the Children's Museum!  How fun!  J loved the ball/ramp building room and D pitched a fit every time they went up or down stairs.  I'm not sure if it's because he wanted to do them himself or because he didn't want to leave.  They had a ball though.  Kathy said their drug of choice is definitely apple juice.  They so rarely get juice and go wild for it when they get it.  Too funny!  Tonight was messy dinner night (spaghetti), followed closely by bedtime.  Whirlwind day.

(3/16) A more or less lazy day today.  We piled in the car and took C to swim lessons. The itty bitty swim committee is much larger than last year and I can't get away with just sitting them up to watch swim.  I had my work cut out for me distracting them in their stroller for a half hour while C swam. We headed home and the boys napped and I read, while C got into mischief.  And then, when I was in the middle of dinner prep, I looked over and saw D climbing over the couch.  I hollered for him to get down and J went running over pointing at the ground and yelling "SIT! SIT!" ~ smart kiddo!  I made corned beef and cabbage for the kids today.  D was a fan and had two helpings.  J pushed it around his tray and made faces.  You win some and you lose some.  In any case, there wasn't a whole lot left for Dad when he got home.

(3/17) Happy St. Paddy's Day!  I picked up some silly hats for the kids, but the little boys weren't as enthusiastic about wearing them as I had hoped.  Oh well. Things always seem to be way more interesting when discovered at the bottom of the toy box some months later.

I kicked today off with a run and came back after the boys had had breakfast.  They played until lunch / nap time.  Dad & C went off to do some shopping, and I have the house to myself for a few hours, now that the littles are down.  Lovely!

Helping do the dishes ~

We're going to a Silvertips (hockey) game this afternoon and Granddad and Grandma will be here watching the twins.  Fun for everyone!

(3/18) Happy Monday!  I am off to work today and Dad has the kiddos.

Seventeen Months

(3/5) Everybody went to Sarah's today while Dad & I worked.  Sarah said it was much easier now that the twins are older.  They had a great day and since Grandma had grabbed C from school, it was just the two of us moms and three littlest for dinner.  I grabbed Mexican take-out and we had a lovely dinner.  The twins were both rubbing their eyes by the time we got home and went straight to bed.  Too much fun wore them out.

(3/6) Today was my day to volunteer in C's classroom and Nanan watched the little guys.  They showed off their furniture-climbing skills and wore the hooded towels she brought them on their heads like capes.  J really enjoys wearing costumes and necklaces.  He wears C's old engineer costume around and gets downright mad when you take it off.

I did a lot of cooking today.  I made crock-pot enchiladas, roasted some potatoes, and then tried roasting collard greens into chips.  Turns out the twins really like collard greens, and they would not leave me alone with them.  LOL!

(3/7) Dad had the kiddos today and I took a class after work, putting me home late so I didn't see much of them. Dad worked with a friend today to get the trailer wired for their camping trip.  They were unsuccessful,  but there's still a little time to get ready for the inaugural trip at the end of the month.

(3/8) Dad had the kiddos until school time.  Then C went to school and the twins got to go to Sarah's.  They had lunch #2 and a nap.  Sarah said she had to wake D at 5:15p.  Tired boy!  I picked them up after work and we went home to dinner.  I gave the twins some leftover roasted potatoes and put some ketchup on them.  The twins *loved* it!  Dinner was a mish-mash of this and that, and required a full strip-down after.  You know you've had a good meal when you need a whole new outfit, right?

(3/9) What a gorgeous day!  We all piled in the car and went to hockey practice.  D had an impressive diaper... all the way down to his sock.  Ew.  Raul took C in since I was going to be a minute.  Got D redressed and headed down to C.   After getting him dressed, I discovered his helmet was broken and that we had forgotten his gloves.  C likes to wear his gear while watching hockey in support, and must have left them where I didn't see them.  Sigh.  We visited the gear guy and got fixed up, renewed his gear for next season and then settled in to have some lunch.  After lunch, the twins took a lap around the arena and that was all they had in 'em.  By this time, hockey was almost over, so they didn't take their normal hockey nap and actually made it til they got home to sleep.  Yay!  We met Sarah at the trail after they woke up to go for a walk in the sunshine.  C tested out his new roller blades on the trail--so it was a slow walk, but it was nice to be out in the beautiful weather nonetheless.  After working up an appetite, we headed home to dinner and then it was bedtime.

(3/10) Spring forward, and the twins are still up early.  I heard the boys at the new 6:30a.  Yawn.  But whichever one it was went back to sleep until 7:15a, when I finally dragged my butt out of bed to go run.  Dad got the boys up after 8am and I rejoined the house at 9.  We had breakfast, and then C was off to his last hockey game of the season.  He and Dad went to lunch after to celebrate a great season.  The littles and I got to hang out and have a nice, quiet morning.  I got their kitchen built during nap and we went to Sarah's house to celebrate Jamie's second birthday this afternoon!  Happy Birthday, Jamie!  We left around 6, when the twins were extra cuddly and acting sleepy.  They ran around for another hour, but then went right down at the new normal time without a peep.

J is now saying "uh-oh" and "dip-dip," and barks and meows when he sees a dog or cat.  D uses everything as a phone.  And even held the diaper cream up and said, "Yeah? Yeah!" while holding it to his ear.  Hilarious!

(3/11) Seventeen months today.  Times flies when you're having fun, eh?

Oof, Monday came early.  Happy DST, or something.  I am off to work today and Dad has the boys.

Friday night conversations at the train table.

Enjoying their new kitchen!
