April 23rd-29th

(4/23) D is finally signing for Kathy now.  He just frets and things and wiggles his fingers for me when he wants more.  I tried to get him to sign 'more' for me tonight, and J not only signed it, but also said "More, more!"  D never did.

(4/24)  Yay, sunny day here! We hit the park with Kathy, Sarah, & kiddos, then came home for a speedy lunch and nap. Well, the littles napped for Nanan and C and I went to school.  We had left the monitor off, so Nanan didn't hear that they were up until we got back.

J was so cute at the park - he loves to swing, and kept saying "D-d" and pointing to the swing next to him, wanting his brother to come swing with him.  And he was not so cute at home, saying "D-d go!" when he didn't want to share clean-up duty of the spilled food from dinner. (They both throw their food when they're done, and then scavenge when they're released from their chairs.)

I am just THRILLED with how our family photos turned out this year!  All photo credits to Lilja Photography.  Click to enlarge any of them.

(4/25) Dad had the kiddos today while I worked.  I rented a movie and we attempted to watch it after the children went to bed only none of them would go to sleep.  D kept standing up and screaming, and C kept coming down.  I think our movie was interrupted no less than 32 times.  And when I went up to close the twins' window, J sat right up and started to read his book.  He is his mother's child!

(4/26) Kathy said the boys took two naps today ~ Dear children, try sleeping at night, please! I put them down at regular time since they were insistent that we go upstairs, and they whined and talked and cried for a good hour before finally going to sleep.  And it was another night of multiple get-ups for C too.  I was watching the clock counting down the minutes til *my* bedtime, which mercifully came early.

(4/27) Thank goodness for some sleep and nothing on the schedule today!  I was out of steam. I heard the cat (wanting breakfast) over the monitor at 6am, turned it off and slept soundly til 8. The boys were awake and cackling in their cribs when I got up. Love that they wake up happy!  We had French toast and waffles this morning, since we ran out of bread.  D threw most of his French toast on the floor. Speaking of D, he has been Captain Disaster today.  When J takes something, or he bangs into something, he cries and comes running for a hug.  Which is sweet, but exhausting after the hundredth time.  We had a nice day of doing nothing.  The boys took a great nap and were exhausted by the time bedtime rolled around.  Actually, all of the kids were, and the house was quiet by 8p.  A rarity for sure!

(4/28) Dad had the boys this morning while I was out running.  I came home around lunchtime, fed the boys, and sent them off to nap-land.  They took a nice nap and then we headed out for an early dinner of sushi.  We're capping off the evening watching hockey and Dad & I will be attempting to watch a movie tonight after the kids go down.

(4/29) Monday-Monday... La-la, la-la-la.  Dad has the boys and I'm workin'.

April 16th-22nd

(4/16) The kids went to Kathy's today and Dad & I worked.  Poor J burned his fingers this evening.  I had just finished cooking dinner, gotten the burners off and had turned around to get D in his chair and J was standing at the stove reaching up and saying "Hot! Hot!" ~ yes, yes it is. :(  He didn't burn them badly, since I couldn't even see where it was burned and he was more interested in licking the water off his hands after I ran them under cold water.  For dinner, I had made us burgers and baked beans.  He put all his burger on D's tray, and only ate the baked beans and strawberries.  LOL, nutritious dinner.

(4/17) I told Dad he had to make Dutch Babies since he bought a ton of lemons the last time he went shopping.  Which, of course, we had to give to the twins to see what they thought ;)  After breakfast we got to go to the park this morning before C went off to school.  It was just beautiful out!

Today was Kathy's day to volunteer in the classroom, so we watched Jax while the twins napped.  I broke out the trains for Jax to play with this afternoon and the twins have done a pretty good job putting them together and pushing them.  Colton has been extremely frustrated with them when they undo everything that he puts together and is intent on "teaching" them the right way to play trains.

D has been a walking disaster today. By the end of the day, he had matching goose eggs and a scratch on his cheek.  He managed to fall and hit the chair rail, and then he ran into the train table and finally he scratched himself by escaping the baby area by climbing through the gate.

(4/18) Dad had the twins today and J was on nap strike. Neither of us are ready for them to stop napping and I don't think they're ready for it either!  Grrruuuuuumpy!  Dad got us pizza for dinner, and I had vultures crowded around me while I attempted to have mine. Even Colton was insisting that I share... and I know he ate!

(4/19)  Work day for Dad & I and Kathy had the kids this afternoon.  Rainy days and all that cooped-up kid energy are challenging for all of us. D had a rough night last night, but still hardly slept.. and J took 2 naps, since he didn't get much of one yesterday.  Colton put on a darling concert this morning and was kind enough to give me a repeat performance this evening after we got home.  He is such a cute kid!

(4/20) D had an awful blow-out this morning, and poor Dad was home to deal with it.  I walked in after it was all cleaned up and fed the boys breakfast.  Great timing on my part!  After breakfast, we packed up and headed to swim lessons.  Today was C's last day in this level. Yay C!  Since it was raining, we headed home for lunch and attempted nap.  D decided to talk and whine and moan for two hours.  The last time I went up to resettle him yet again, J woke up.  D slept for maybe 30 minutes and was a total wreck for the rest of the day.  He was so overtired, yet when it was time for bed, he was still up for another *two* hours before he finally crashed. All my children were very "on" today, and I was exhausted come bedtime.

(4/21) I heard the little boys at 7a this morning, but they were just talking, so I let them be.  I got up closer to 8 and got them breakfast (we had French Toast - yum!).  We'll be attempting an early nap and then the twins are headed to Kathy's house in exchange for Bridger, who told us he really wanted to go bowling the last time we were there.  I picked up a livingsocial for bowling and pizza, so we're taking the big boys to skate and then bowl.

(4/22) Happy Monday!  Dad has the kids today, Colton has school and I have to work.  Wee!

Eighteen Months

(4/9) Work day for Dad & me, and Kathy has the kids. She took the littles out to try the sandbox and they thought it was yummy! Sounds like everyone had a good day.  Love coming home with happy boys!

(4/10) Poor D was having a morning.  He just kept falling or bonking into things and bursting into tears.  I don't think he was quite ready to get up this morning.  I ended up putting them down before Nanan got here to watch them so I could go volunteer at C's school.  They slept for most of the time I was gone and were both in very fun moods when I returned.  They have taken up yelling "D!" or "J!" when watching hockey and raising their hands above their heads.  It's a riot!  Most of the pics turned out blurry, but I got a couple of good ones of them all on the couch.

(4/11) 18 months!  I know I say this every update, but man, time flies.

Dad had the kiddos today, but I got to see them after dinner and for bedtime.  C's in a daddy stage, but the twins still get me for bedtime.  They run around, pull on the kitty (I'd say "poor kitty," but he goes right up to them and lays down in front of them. He's just asking for some heavy petting), and I attempt to read.  They sometimes steal the book I'm reading, or give me another, or just climb on me.  J will sit next to me with his own board book every now and then.  And that has to be the cutest thing ever!

(4/12) Today was long (for me, anyway).  Fridays are a work day for Dad & me, and Kathy had the kids.  She attempted coloring with the twins, and said when it was clear that they were done (eating the crayons, etc), that J absolutely fell apart when she picked up the crayons.  Yay, tantrums!

I fed the kids a quick dinner when we got home, turned around and it was bedtime.  I didn't last much longer than the kids did.  Thank goodness it's a sleep in day tomorrow.  Mama needs it!

(4/13) YAY for the weekend!  I so needed some sleep. The boys stayed down until after I had come in from my run and taken a shower.  They rarely sleep past 8, so this was a treat.  We had swim lessons for C in the am - D pulled J's hair from behind him in the stroller.  That was fun.  C was asked by his teacher if he'd like to try swimming across the deep end.  He got excited, but then decided he was all done and wanted to go home. I asked if he could jump off the diving board and then swim the deep end.  She said sure and he did it!! Yay!!  I had hoped we could stay and play at the park, but it started to rain, so we headed home to bake cookies instead.  That was a fiasco with littles running around.  J broke the dowel holding the kitchen drawers in place, and he can also wiggle it out of the handles, so I'm going to have to think of another solution to keep them out.  Anyway, we're out of baking soda, so I used powder, but incorrectly remembered that powder was stronger than soda, which resulted in very flat cookies.  I mixed some in belatedly, but it didn't mix well, so the second batch looked a little better.  And then I burned the third batch because I was trying to keep the twins *in* their high chairs instead of turning the lights off/on. Eventually it was nap time, and C went off to scrapbook with Sarah & Jordan.  Jor stayed to play after they were done and the littles took nice, long naps.  D slept until 4:30, and was exhausted by the time 7p rolled around.

(4/14) We totally lucked out with decent to niceish weather this morning for our family pictures!  I cannot wait to see how they turned out! We went to North Creek Park in Mill Creek, and were ridiculously early because I wasn't quite sure where we were going, and then drove straight to it.  I'm glad we went early today because this afternoon has been a mix of sun, pouring rain & hail. Dad and C are off to C's first Mariners game and they've sent me pics of them sitting in the sun.  Very nice!  I plan to have a quiet afternoon with the littles and maybe a walk, if the weather turns around.

(4/15) Happy tax deduction day!  I am at work, and Dad has the kiddos.
